Norton and Stockton Ancients.

TJFA Under-12 Div 2 Brinkburn FC ..................................... 0 Norton and Stockton Ancients ............ 1 DRIZZLE throughout the game created great conditions for the ball to zip off the surface and cause problems for both teams.

A keenly contested game was settled with just a single goal in favour of Norton.

Norton took the lead midway through the first half with a superbly struck free-kick from Jack Chapman 30 yards out which left the keeper with no chance. With Norton failing to put away chance after chance, it looked like Brinkburn may punish them on one of the few breakaways they created, but the Norton back line defended with their usual tenacity and resilience.

The second half was much the same as the first with Norton dominating but not converting good chances and the Brinkburn goalkeeper lead a charmed life.

Norton players blasted high and wide, struck the woodwork and the Brinkburn keeper made saves throughout.

Norton did have a second goal disallowed for an offside decision but still managed to run out deserved winners to ensure they kept the pressure on the teams above vying for promotion.
