Security company Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) reported on Thursday that the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) in November 2011 granted temporary certification to its Europe-based air traffic management subsidiary Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems for its NOVA 9000 airport surface movement guidance and control system.

According to the company, Park Air Systems is currently the only provider of Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control Systems (A-SMGCS) to obtain this certification from the CAAC, which rules that all communication, navigation and surveillance products serving the Chinese civil aviation market require certification as a compulsory prerequisite to site acceptance and operation at airports or en route.

NOVA 9000 systems have been delivered by Park Air Systems to Beijing, Guangzhou and Macau airports. An additional delivery to Shenzhen airport is also in progress. Park Air Systems commenced the application process in 2009 and said it has carried out its activities in compliance with application procedures and CAAC requirements.
