Meg and Mike Revord of Winnetka were honored with the prestigious 2018 Angels in Adoption award at a recent gala held at the Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. at the end of September. Past recipients of the award - hosted by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) - include First Lady Laura Bush, Muhammad Ali, Kristin Chenoweth, Patti LaBelle, Bruce Willis, Rosie O'Donnell and Jane Seymour.
Meg and Mike Revord were granted this award due to their active participation with the Gift of Adoption, a national 501(c)3 charity that provides funds needed to complete the adoptions of vulnerable children.
Together, Meg and Mike Revord have helped complete the adoptions of more than 100 children by inspiring friends, business executives and corporations across the country to make Gift of Adoption -- and the cause of adoption -- a philanthropic priority. They have also led efforts to grow Gift of Adoption's annual grant giving capacity from reaching 80 children a year to completing adoptions for 365 children annually in 2018.
The Revord's were inspired to help unite more children in need with a forever family after embarking on their own adoption journey. After completing the adoption of their daughter, they realized how insurmountable the upfront cost of adoption can be and the barrier it presents to many potential adoptive families. In hopes of one day eliminating financial barriers to adoption so more children can be adopted, they became involved with Gift of Adoption.
"We cannot think of a better investment of time and money to positively impact the lives of children than by ensuring they have a family," said Meg Revord. "Through Gift of Adoption, we can change the trajectory of a child's life forever."
Meg Revord is President of the National Board of Governors for Gift of Adoption, a position she has held since 2016. Meg has also served as President and Vice President of the Illinois Chapter and as an Illinois Chapter board member since 2003. Mr. Revord has also been a strong supporter of Gift of Adoption since 2003, serving on the organization's signature event committee, which raises funds to complete adoptions.
"We are thrilled to have Meg and Mike Revord recognized for the incredible work they have done to ensure more children have a family and a future they deserve," said Pam Devereux, CEO of Gift of Adoption. "They have made a true impact on Gift of Adoption and the children and families we serve."
