The Canadian telecomms equipment maker Nortel Networks has signed an agreement to divest the majority of its manufacturing activities related to the systems integration, configuration and testing of the company's DMS circuit switching products to Montreal-based C-MAC Industries Inc.
The operations to be divested are currently performed at Nortel's facilities in North Carolina, US and Monkstown, Northern Ireland but they will be transferred to C-MAC's own facilities in North Carolina and Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland. Nortel will also sell associated equipment and inventory to C-MAC, a provider of electronic manufacturing systems.
As part of the agreement C-MAC will supply back to Nortel Networks systems integration, configuration and testing services for DMS products and will assume most of the management functions related to the associated supply chain. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
