Nod for construction of road under PMGSY.

New Delhi, April 28 -- Union Rural Development Minister CP Joshi has agreed in principle to the proposal of Punjab Government to undertake the construction of remaining 1000-km of roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY).

A decision to this effect was taken by Joshi in a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who called on him in his office at New Delhi on Monday evening.

Taking part in the deliberations, the Chief Minister also impressed Joshi to include the project of latrines in rural areas under permissible works of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA).

The Chief Minister also urged Joshi to allow the labour cost to the small and marginal farmers for undertaking various labour activities including weeding, watering, sowing, spraying and harvesting.

Summing up the discussion, Joshi asked the Chief Minister to send a comprehensive proposal to the Ministry of Rural Development for allowing labour cost to the small and marginal farmers.

He also assured Badal of positive response to the other issues raised by him.
