NobleNet delivers EZ-RPC enhancements for Visual BASIC 4.0, Visual C++ 4.0; Integrates EZ-RPC compiler into Visual C++ IDE to expedite fast edit-to-.EXE cycle; Can call 32-Bit .DLLs to support Windows 95 client/server development.

SOUTHBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 12, 1995--NobleNet Inc. today announced EZ-RPC enhancements to take advantage of Microsoft Visual Basic support for 16- and 32-bit components and the new Microsoft Visual C++ Interactive Development Environment (IDE).

The new versions of EZ-RPC for Microsoft Windows 95, Windows NT, and Microsoft Windows 3.1 are available immediately. They let Visual Basic and

Visual C++ programmers with no experience in writing network code automatically distribute applications via WinSock-compliant .DLL's (in the form of Transport-Independent Remote Procedure Calls (TI-RPCs)). With these enhancements, EZ- RPC now supports 32-bit Microsoft Windows and speeds the 'edit-to-.EXE' cycle. The products also run on SPX/IPX and feature automatic dual-stack (SPX/IPX and TCP/IP) support.

"Programmers building GUIs with Visual Basic want their applications to make 32-bit .DLL calls to support the Windows 95 launch," said Dennis Ford, President and CEO of NobleNet. "Visual C++ programmers want all the advantages its object- centric design promises. Because NobleNet has worked with Microsoft to understand their customers' needs and development plans, we can provide those benefits and introduce application programmers to the benefits of client/server development without the effort and expense of becoming communications programmers."

Visual Basic and Visual C++ programmers can distribute applications to NetWare, UNIX, OS/2, VMS, and Macintosh platforms as well as to other Windows systems. Using EZ-RPC, Windows programmers specify which subroutines run locally and remotely, and the compiler automatically creates the necessary client and server stubs, the middleware source code, as well as the commented, readable .DLL's. EZ-RPC for Windows 3.1 is priced at $1495 and EZ-RPC for

Windows 95 and Windows NT lists for $4995. Other EZ-RPC products distribute applications for UNIX, OS/2, and Macintosh platforms through a C-based RPC mechanism and for NetWare environments through RPC-like NLMs.

Based in Southboro, Mass., NobleNet offers total one-stop shopping for multi-platform middleware products and services. In addition to its= successful commercialization of RPC technology, NobleNet distributes IONA Technologies' Orbix

CORBA-compliant multi-platform Object Request Broker. Thus NobleNet supports the procedural and object paradigm, multiple protocols and multiple stacks, and two-, three- and n-tier client/server computing. NobleNet's tools have been recognized by industry press and analysts for their excellence; they are emerging standards for building balanced client/server applications. NobleNet provides technical support for its customers' complete middleware needs in both the procedural and object paradigm. NobleNet products are installed in over 200 development sites worldwide, with resulting NobleNet run-time code supporting over 300,000 clients and 27,000 servers. -0-
