No survivors in Chilean plane crash.

Summary: Chile's government confirms all 21 people on board a military aircraft that crashed into the Pacific Ocean have died.

Chile's government has confirmed all 21 people on board a military aircraft, which crashed into the Pacific Ocean off the remote Juan Fernandez islands, have died.

Search and rescue teams have recovered four bodies so far from Friday's crash, one of Chile's worst air disasters in recent years.

Defence Minister Andres Allamand said: "One arrives at the conclusion that the impact was so strong that it must have killed those aboard instantly."

The CASA 212 military plane tried to land twice before it disappeared as heavy winds and sporadic rains hit the area.

On board the plane, as well as locals and military personnel, was a television crew, journalists and Felipe Camiroaga, one of the country's best known presenters.

The 45-year-old hosted Buenos Dias a Todos (Good Morning Everyone) and the late-night talk show Animal Nocturno (Nocturnal Animal).

Fans flocked to the Santiago based TVN station to light candles and pray. The station confirmed five of its staff were on the plane.

They had been due to film a report about the reconstruction of the island following a devastating earthquake and tsunami in early 2010.
