No salute results in a pay cut.

Manama A policeman lost three days' pay for failing to salute a woman officer at Kuwait International Airport. The woman officer noticed that the policeman did not salute her on several occasions. She also found out that he was doing so deliberately and reported the matter to her superior, local dailies Al Rai and Arab Times said.

The policeman was quizzed on the issue and made to sign a pledge that he would abide by the rules and salute officers, regardless of their gender.

Women in Kuwait have made great strides in most areas, but they face formidable challenges from conservative forces.
