No power for hours in Township.

LAHORE -- Township and its adjoining localities remained without light for almost nine hours on Tuesday after a kite string was entangled in a power distribution line leading to tripping of 11kV feeders and damaging equipment, insulators and cables there.

The situation worsened after the 132kV township grid station caught fire.

'It first tripped around five 11kV feeders and damaged insulators, cross, cables etc installed there. Later, it tripped the Township grid station and all 11 feeders originating from the station,' Lahore Electric Supply Company Superintending Engineer Naeem Ahmad told Dawn.

However, the officials managed to restore the system.

'We tried to supply power to the affected areas through alternate sources,' he said.

Consumer suffered as absence of electricity for many hours caused water shortage in many areas.
