No longer starring your favorite professor: Professional actors--rather than professors--now deliver lectures in a noncredit, online certification course in project management in Purdue University's Engineering Professional Education program. Scripts are written by instructional designers at the Indiana university and read by either of two actors cast by a Dallas production studio where the videos are filmed. Videos are seven minutes--compared to the 20- and 40-minute lectures of the past--to accommodate students' short attention spans. So far, student response has been positive. University instructors graded assignments and answered questions for students in the first offering of the course, which started this August and will run through the end of September.--Kylie Lacey
