No humble umbel, it's a gorgeous green giant; My favourite...
Byline: CAROL KLEIN
Although this plant only came on to my radar recently, it has become a firm favourite.
At first sight, it is difficult to decide where Mathiasella bupleuroides 'Green Dream' might fit in. You look at its large, divided leaves and are reminded of celery (it even smells a bit like it). But its flowers are not like any other.
They are green - I love green flowers - and there are several to each flower head. They are very attractive and visible, on 70 to 80cm stems. It is in the umbel or apiaceae family, related to carrots and cow parsley, but a true perennial.
