No giraffe, Africa's great.

Byline: TONY CASCARINO

THE African Cup of Nations began this week and I must say I've loved the games.

The tournament is always different from the prim and polished Euros or World Cup and this week we saw that when the lights went out on Monday night!

Some goals have been great and the naivete has been great to see too - the way some defenders make howlers and then pile forward and shoot on sight.

The pitches are not so great either sometimes and it's good to see players play so well on horrible surfaces.

We're served up some dross week in, week out on perfect pitches so this is against the grain and great to watch.
