No games as stars hit the red carpet for film premier.

THE stars of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time arrived in London last night for the world premiere of the much-anticipated action film.

Gemma Arterton and Jake Gyllenhaal were in the UK for the first showing of the film, based on the popular computer game.

Set in Persia, the fantasy tale centres around a prince called Dastan played by Gyllenhaal, who is blamed for the death of a King, that took him under hris wing, and now he must fight to clear his name. On his quest he meets a mysterious Alamut princess called Tamina, played by Arterton, and together they must stop an evil ruler from stealing an ancient glass dagger that could unleash a dangerous sandstorm.

Arterton who wore a Valentino gown, embroidered with thousands of silver beads, dazzled the crowd. She teamed it with a severe side parting in her dark hair, and red lipstick.

Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time, is based on an award-winning videogame of the same name developed by Ubisoft which was released in 2003. The Princess' name has been changed from Farah to Tamina in the Disney-backed movie.

Gyllenhaal has spoken of his excitement at starring in the movie, saying: "That is like fulfilling the dreams that I had when I was eight. When he is playing with an action figure what young boy doesn't think that maybe one day?"
