No confidence to wear a [...].

No confidence to wear a homburg THERE used to be a saying 'if you want to get ahead, get a hat."

But when and why did hats go out of fashion for men? In the 1960s there seem to be a fair number about, then later it seemed that only old men wore them.

I'm not talking about beenies or woolly football hats, I mean the likes of homburg hats.

I've just watched a Cary Grant movie with him as a young man wearing a hat, and he looked great.

I'm in my late 20s and would love to wear one but simply don't have the confidence.

I know everyone would look at me and either think I'm a p*** or make some judgement about my sexuality.

I've just read this back and it feels like an old fashioned problem page letter! But it's not. Anyone else out there who is a closet hat fan? Name and address supplied
