No Olympic help for banks.

I WAS glad to hear the Prime Minister and Lord Coe urging us to harness the spirit and feel-good factor of the Olympic Games, not only for the future of sport, but also to involve politics, business and commerce in benefits to society and the economy and combating poverty and famine.

It is good to see social conscience operating in the corridors of power. I hope, though, that they are not planning to burden the banks with such trivialities.

They are having a hard enough time keeping the wolf from the doors of their financially beleaguered chairmen and executives.
