Nixon Peabody expands in midtown.

SageGroupAssociates, a division of Sage Realty Corporation, announced that Nixon Peabody, LLP, one of the largest multipractice law firms in the United States, has extended its lease and expanded its office space at 437 Madison Ave. by leasing an additional 16,800 s/f for a total of 82,700 s/f.

SageGroupAssociates is the leasing agent for the owner, the William Kaufman Organization. SageGroupAssociates managing directors Gregory Gang and Michael Lenchner represented both the landlord and the tenant in the transaction.

The 40-story commercial tower at 437 Madison Ave. contains approximately 800,000 s/f and was designed by the renowned architectural firm, Emery Roth & Sons, in the Modernist style. It occupies the entire eastern block front of Madison Avenue between 49th and 50th streets, the center of the midtown office district. The building is surrounded by such internationally recognized landmarks as St. Patrick's Cathedral, the historic 19th century Villard Houses and the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

Arthur Rosner, managing partner of the New York City office of Nixon Peabody, said, "We are pleased to continue our commitment to an owner and a building that have served the firm so well over the past decade since we first became a tenant. The building is extremely well located, making it easily accessible to our clients, attorneys and staff. Sage Realty and the owner are innovative and in the forefront of building management and operations. They go out of their way to create an environment in which it is efficient and enjoyable to do business."
