Nissan Motor Company (NASDAQ: NSANY)(TYO: 7201), a Japan-based automaker, is reportedly going ahead with plans to develop a flagship plug-in hybrid for the Infiniti brand, Leftlane News has reported.
The Q80 Inspiration concept is likely to serve as a basis for the production model. It features suicide rear doors, a panoramic roof, an upscale interior and several high-resolution displays for the driver and rear-seat passengers. It is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 and an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 550bhp.
The plug-in S500 merges an 8.7-kWh battery pack for up to 20 miles of electric range, with a combined output of 436bhp and 479lb-ft of torque. The Panamera E-Hybrid has a slightly larger battery and delivers 428bhp when running both the V6 and electric motor.
Infiniti is likely to launch the new flagship plug-in hybrid before the end of the decade, potentially as early as 2018.
