Nissan car sales in Indonesia overshot the target of 10,000 units with sales totaling 12,201 units in 2004, Nissan agent PT Nissan Motor Indonesia (NMI) said. The sales in 2004 nearly doubled sales of 6,720 units in 2003. NMI President Toru Hasegawa attributed the better than expected performance to good sales of Nissan sport utility vehicle (SUV) cars, X-Trail and Terrano. Hasegawa said X-Trail led in the market of SUV segment in the country last year with sales totaling 7,131 units. Its multipurpose vehicle (MPV) cars like Serena also contributed significantly to Nissan car sales in the country. (Bill 1/01/05)
