Nintendo might just make a 3DS successor.
As the release date of the Nintendo Switch grows nearer, questions of the succession for the hand-held 3DS have popped up here and there. It turns out that Nintendo has not fully neglected the the 3DS line and is already considering its successor.
With the Switch being a hybrid handheld and home gaming console, it's easy to assume that this could be Nintendo's new top handheld device. However, Anime News Network reports that Nintendo is considering something like a 'Switch Slim' to succeed the 3DS handheld system should the hybrid Switch prove successful.
A separate report from the Kyoto Shimbun paper noted that Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima said the company will be targeting a different, child-focused demographic from the Switch. This, he adds, will differentiate a future handheld system from Switch, in price and form factor.
All of these are still hypothetical, but for fans of the 3DS, it would be good to hear that Nintendo has not yet abandoned the popular handheld system.
