Nintendo and Sierra On-Line announce exclusive Nintendo Ultra 64 development agreement; Red Baron takes flight on the world's most advanced home video game system.

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 10, 1995--Nintendo of America Inc. today announced Sierra On-Line Inc. as the newest member to join the world class publishing team for Nintendo Ultra 64(TM), the home video game system which will enable players to play in three-dimensional worlds that previously have been available only on high-end graphic workstations.

Sierra On-Line (NASDAQ:SIER), based in Bellevue, Wash., will develop and publish Red Baron exclusively for play on the new 64-bit home video game system now being developed by Nintendo and Silicon Graphics Inc. (NYSE:SGI).

Based on the critically-acclaimed PC flight simulator of the same name, Red Baron will bring real-time, three-dimensional, high-flying, World War I aerial combat to a whole new audience, shortly following the launch of Nintendo Ultra 64 in North America in the fall of 1995.

"We are thrilled to be aligned with Nintendo for the Nintendo Ultra 64," says Tony Reyneke, president of Sierra On-Line's Eugene subsidiary. "The sights, sounds and game play that will result from this agreement will be absolutely amazing."

The Red Baron game will replicate combat intelligence characteristics of the actual flying Aces that fought in World War I. Each airplane is modeled after exact structural and flight characteristics of the originals. Players will engage in close-range dog fights, going head to head with more than 20 famous pilots including the Red Baron himself.

"Our Nintendo Ultra 64 `dream team' has just signed a significant player with the addition of Sierra On-Line," says Howard Lincoln, chairman of Nintendo of America. "Red Baron on the Nintendo Ultra 64 will give players a flight simulation experience like never before."

The Nintendo Ultra 64 system is the product of a worldwide joint development and license agreement combining Nintendo's expertise in video game development with Silicon Graphics' renowned visual computing technologies as utilized by Industrial Light & Magic in numerous blockbuster motion pictures. Nintendo's 64-bit system, which will be available for home use in fall 1995, will carry a suggested retail price in the United States of below $250.

Founded in 1979, Sierra On-Line is one of the original developers and largest worldwide publishers of interactive entertainment and educational software. The company's common stock is traded on the NASDAQ under the symbol SIER.

Nintendo Co., Ltd., of Kyoto, Japan, is the leader in the worldwide $15 billion retail video game industry. As a wholly owned subsidiary, Nintendo of America Inc., based in Redmond, Wash., serves as headquarters for Nintendo's operations in the Western Hemisphere, where more than 40 percent of American homes own a Nintendo system. -0-
