Nine militants killed in Egypt - MoI.

CAIRO, Sept 26 (KUNA) -- The Egyptian Ministry of Interior said late Friday that nine "terrorists" were killed in a crackdown on their hotbed in Awsim town, Giza governorate. The nine 'Takfiri' elements (Muslims accusing fellow Muslims of blasphemy) were involved in the bomb attacks on the National Security Department HQ in Qalyoubia Governorate and the Italian Consulate in Cairo, according to a statement by the Ministry. Acting on tips, the security services set a plan for an operation against the hotbed and exchanged fire with the terrorists for several hours. The gunfight resulted in the killing of the nine terrorists, the wounding of police officers and two policemen, and the seizure of a quantity of explosives, hand grenades and firearms, the statement added. On July 11 a bomb attack on the Italian Consulate killed one person and injured nine other while 29 persons were injured in the attack on the National Security Dept. in Shobra Al-Khaima district, Qalyoubia Governorate, north Cairo, on August 20.
