Nine More Insurance Industry Users Choose IVANS Transformation Station; Transforming Insurance E-Commerce.

Business Editors

GREENWICH, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 11, 2001

Nine new users signed on last quarter for IVANS Transformation Station, a real-time managed data exchange that is steadily building momentum as a universal electronic commerce infrastructure for the insurance industry.

Companies licensing Transformation Station in the third quarter included:

-- Donegal Mutual Insurance Co (NasdaqNM: DGICA)

-- Encompass Insurance

-- ePointInsure

-- Impressive Publishing

-- Ohio Casualty Insurance Co (NasdaqNM: OCAS)

-- Pennsylvania National Mutual Casualty

-- Protegrity Services, Inc

-- SAFECO Insurance Co of America (NasdaqNM: SAFC)

-- Sintech Software, LLC.

"It's been almost twenty years since IVANS first revolutionized insurance industry e-commerce," said Bill Tedrick, IVANS Vice President, Customer Services & Industry Sales. "IVANS was created by the industry to provide a `one-to-many' network environment which gave our customers options beyond the proprietary dumb terminals that agents had been using to communicate with insurers."

"Today, within the IVANS community of almost 115,000 communicating pairs of agents and companies, we see that some are pioneering newer technologies while others find that legacy applications are still perfectly adequate for their needs. For trading partners that need to deal with both, IVANS is revolutionizing the industry once again with Transformation Station, a platform where all technologies can meet."

Transformation Station offers a single, secure connection point for real-time, immediate and batch mailbox delivery that can be accessed from the public Internet, private network, or Virtual Private Network (VPN). In-network translation allows applications using dissimilar data formats to communicate with each other; and a wide variety of application-bridging tools are offered.

Since its introduction last year, Transformation Station has found wide acceptance among insurers, agents and vendors. "Because of its flexibility, Transformation Station is a natural fit with any agency management software offering Single Entry Multiple Company Interface (SEMCI) capability," said Tedrick. "But application service providers with offerings like policy rating, or certificates of insurance, or just about any kind of data services are also finding a use for Transformation Station. Because it's a platform that is open to all vendors, many companies selling to the industry find that Transformation Station is an ideal way to reach insurers and agents."

IVANS, Inc., headquartered in Greenwich, Connecticut was formed in 1983 by 21 insurance companies to provide data networking and e-commerce solutions and services to all participants in the insurance industry. It serves over 475 insurance and healthcare organizations and more than 30,000 independent agents and brokers.
