Nikka Whisky to offer 70,000 yen anniv. whiskey.
Asahi Breweries Ltd. and its subsidiary Nikka Whisky Distilling Co. said Tuesday they will sell 500 bottles of whiskey for 70,000 yen each Sept. 15 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of Nikka Whisky.
The 700-mililiter Nikka Whisky Pure Malt Aged 35 Years will carry the highest price tag among products currently offered by Nikka Whisky, the two companies said.
The number of bottles will be limited as the liquor is made from very rare unprocessed malt whiskey, they said, adding that a lottery will be held if demand exceeds supply.
The whiskey blends malt whiskey that has been distilled and stored for 35 years at Nikka's stillroom in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, with whiskey that has been stored for 35-40 years at its stillroom in Yoichi, Hokkaido, the companies said.
Their retail outlets will take orders for the whiskey from June 22 to July 30.
