The government of Nigeria has said that a new Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company (NMRC) will be launched on January 16.

The new company will enhance the provision of more houses at affordable prices nationwide, it said. Additionally, it will invigorate the housing and construction sector in the country.

The NMRC will increase liquidity in the housing market besides providing a secondary market for mortgages.
