Nigeria : Enugu's local govt. areas to benefit from N.15B World Bank grant.

The state government of Enugu has announced that that seven local government areas in the state will benefit from a World Bank grant of N1.5 billion to execute key community development projects.

The projects will be managed through the CSDP during the next 3 years.

General Manager, State Agency for Community and Social Development Projects, CSDP, Dr Maximus Asogwa, said this while informing the State Executive Council, exco meeting presided over by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, about the progress of the partnership between the state government and the World Bank.

The state government has created a poor map showing real retched communities in the state in line with the World Bank's demands.

Asogwa said the poverty map was passed by the global funding agency to identify the real poor communities requiring its intervention.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Mr Uwakwe Abugu, said that the government has agreed to pay N100 million in counterpart fee for the money to be accessed.
