Nigel Hayward Major Projects Director Arcadis.
I AM a Chartered Engineer and ICE fellow, with a degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters in Project Management. I am also a Registered Project Professional with the Association for Project Management.
I started my career as a civil engineer and over the last 30 years have specialised in design and project management on large, multi-disciplinary projects.
Major projects have included the Falklands Airport, Leuna 2000 Oil Refinery in Germany, M1 motorway widening, Ski Dubai and the Burj Khalifa tower.
Since returning to the UK in 2010, I have focused on rail projects, which started with Deutsch Reichsbahn on a station refurbishment in Berlin in 1988.
When I moved to the former East Germany in 1992 I led our Rail team working, which provided a good grounding for my later involvement in the major Taiwan High Speed Rail and Dubai Metro projects. My recent experience includes Crossrail, LU Bank and Holborn Stations, Crossrail 2 and Sydney Metro. I am currently leading our HS2 Design JV based in Birmingham.
My career has convinced me that the development of society is enabled through infrastructure and I am proud to have worked on many major projects that support the betterment of mankind.
