Nick Abad joins opposition faction, UNA.

Nothing personal.

That's how Engineer Nicanor "Nick" Abad described his move to join opposition faction United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) on Monday.

Engineer Abad happens to be the oldest surviving brother of Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Florencio "Butch" Abad, one of President Benigno S. Aquino III's most trusted people within the Liberal Party (LP).

"Wala namang personal reason. Iba lang ang paniniwala niya, iba naman ang paniniwala ko (There is no personal reason. We just have different beliefs)," the engineer told reporters in a chance interview at Coconut Palace, the official residence of Vice President Jejomar Binay.
