Newspaper Carrier Couple Carjacked In Ohio.
A husband-and-wife team of newspaper carriers were carjacked and injured Monday while delivering The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch, the paper reported.
The couple were reportedly making their deliveries to a market in Thornville in Perry County.
"Brettan S. Dickie, 25, of Heath, was charged with individual counts of aggravated robbery, felonious assault and felony theft and held at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail in Nelsonville," the Dispatch reported.
The carriers, Mary Smith, 43, and Paul Smith, 54, were treated and released from Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, the paper added. They were "a little banged up but all right," a deputy sheriff told the Dispatch.
The paper said the Smiths "were confronted outside the market about 2 a.m. by a man asking for a ride to Newark. He struggled with them and took their car."
Fairfield County deputies later found the suspect walking along a road near where the couple's car had crashed.
