Newport Networks selected by Newtel Solutions for VoIP Session Control.

CHEPSTOW, England -- Newport Networks (LSE:NNG), the developer of carrier-class 1460 Session Border Controllers, has been selected by Newtel Solutions to deliver access and interconnect session control for its next generation network. The Newport 1460 is part of a larger order for NGN equipment placed by Newtel Solutions with Newport's partner Marconi Corporation.

Newtel is the largest independent Internet Service Provider and telecoms company in the Channel Islands offering a broad range of residential and business services. As part of its continuous service innovation program Newtel decided to upgrade its network to a next generation solution including session border control from Newport Networks.

The 1460 is the industry's most future proof session control solution offering unmatched scalability, performance and investment protection. The Newport 1460 can be deployed in an extremely flexible manner separating both signalling and media alongside a simple migration path to important future standards such as IMS (IP Multi-Media Subsystem).

"The new network needs to be highly resilient and flexible to meet the expectations of our demanding business and residential customers. Alongside this we also needed to provide ourselves with the best investment protection" commented Andrew Elston, Operations Manager, Newtel Solutions. "With its scale and capacity, Newport Networks' 1460 SBC represents the most future proof solution for our session control requirements" he added.

"We are extremely pleased to be working with Newtel Solutions" said John Everard, Chief Executive Officer at Newport Networks. "The 1460 session controller will be deployed to enable Newtel to offer a range of innovative multi-media services and interconnect with other operators via IP."

Dave Holder, Account Director, Marconi Corporation commented, "This news demonstrates the value of our partnership with Newport Networks. This deal was the subject of a robust examination of our combined technical and commercial capabilities. It endorses our seamless proposition for the delivery of next generation services."
