Newmarket Gallops: Dubai Destination return still on hold.
DUBAI DESTINATION'S first run for Godolphin has been delayed after he failed to come up to expectations on the Limekilns yesterday morning in his first gallop in Newmarket this spring, writes Tony Elves.
The Kingmambo colt was reported to have bruised a foot in the middle of March, which ruled him out of the Sagitta 2,000 Guineas. The French equivalent this Sunday or next week's Convergent Communications Dante Stakes at York had been suggested as Guineas alternatives for Dubai Destination, who outpointed Rock Of Gibraltar in the Cham-
pagne Stakes at Doncaster last season when with David Loder.
But connections will probably look
towards another Derby trial, after he had failed keep paces on the speedy Firebreak, who was given the go-ahead to take his chance in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains at Longchamp on Sunday.
Simon Crisford, racing manager to Godolphin, said: "He's in the Dante next week but at this stage it looks unlikely that he will run. Dubai Destination is coming along well but he's not really firing and we will give him more time."
nSir George Turner could put his Derby claims on the line by making his reappearance at Lingfield on Saturday.
Mark Johnston, who also has Bandari in the Attheraces Sky Channel 418 Derby Trial, said: "It could be Sir George Turner will run. He seems in good form."
