Newmarket: Sky Dome to fly in for Tompkins.

SKY DOME can enjoy a change of luck in the Tote Exacta Handicap (3.15) at Ayr today, writes Tony Elves.

On a day which is very light for Newmarket runners, the Bluebird gelding would appear to hold the best chance of a victory.

Sky Dome has been running consistently of late, and found the concession of 29lb to Shaanxi Romance too much when beaten a length and a quarter at Kempton 13 days ago.

The Mark Tompkins-trained seven-year-old races off the same mark today and the long journey to Scotland can prove worthwhile.

Niagara could complete a double for Tompkins in the No Show Ayr Flower Show Handicap (4.45).

The Rainbows For Life colt looked a decent prospect in the making when beating Happy Hooligan over six furlongs on this course in May last year, but success has not been forthcoming since.

Niagara showed he was coming back to form when a six-length third to Archie Babe over 10 furlongs at Pontefract last month, and the handicapper has given him a chance with a 5lb drop in the ratings since that performance.

AYR: 3.15 Sky Dome (nap), 4.45 Niagara.
