Newcastle metal band set to release first EP.

NEWCASTLE post-hardcore band Built Upon Sand are trying to make a name for themselves on the local music scene.

The six-piece premiered their debut music video, Integrity, via Last FM back in the summer and were featured as Discovery Of The Week.

Built Upon Sand are known for being a hard-hitting live act, and have worked hard to build up their reputation by gigging relentlessly and networking with other band.

Last year, the band had a successful run of gigs across the UK playing with bands such as Dream On, Dreamer, Silent Screams, Martyr Defiled, Napoleon, Demoraliser, Fathoms and more.

Initially forming as a four-piece, school mates Joe Pye (clean vocals), Adam Ford (drums), Jack Boddy (vocals) and Michael (rhythm guitar) met lead guitarist Josh Hummerston in 2012. He recruited bass player Tom Loveday and, by 2013, the Built Upon Sand line-up was complete.

The band then started working with Liam Gaughan a Newcastle based tutor/ producer who was yet to work within the metal genre. His influence and eye for perfection has not only matured the band's song-writing abilities but influenced members to improve their playing, even encouraging Adam to become a drum tutor outside of the band.

Liam has been key in the birth of Built Upon Sand's debut EP Blind Justice, and Integrity is the first single from this record.
