Newark contributes many jobs, resources claims report.


A new research report released by The National Economic Research Associates has found that the Newark International Airport contributes some 110,000 jobs and USD3.35bn in personal income to the New Jersey and New York City areas.

The activity of Continental Airlines, which operates from the airport, was revealed to contribute USD3.98bn in gross regional product and the airline's new Global Gateway construction activities are expected to generate 7,529 jobs at their peak in 2001.

The report, which is based on 1999 activity, also details the contribution made to the regional economies by passengers brought in by Continental Airlines, which amounted to about USD2.5bn.
