New wireless print server introduced by Axis.

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-3 May 2005-New wireless print server introduced by Axis(C)1994-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Axis Communications, a network connectivity specialist, has announced the launch of its 802.11g wireless print server for small businesses and home offices called the AXIS OfficeBasic USB Wireless G Print Server.

The product offers an encrypted installation process and is the first wireless print server to work with the Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 security standard, Axis claims.

The print server is able to reduce cabling costs by enabling computers to wirelessly connect to USB-enabled printers and it protects wireless transmissions using the Advanced Encryption Standard. The AXIS OBWG encrypts the communication during the installation process, therefore eliminating security risks which could be present.

Working over 802.11b and 802.11g wireless networks, the AXIS OBWG is able to support security protocols like WPA2, WPA and Wired Equivalent Privacy to enable the print server to function in any type of wireless network environment.

The AXIS OBWG will be available through Axis' UK distribution channels from May, priced at GBP89 +VAT.
