Sun Microsystems Inc has released version 1.3 beta 2 of the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE).

The latest version of the J2EE software development kit (SDK) offers a new specification for Enterprise JavaBeans, an architecture for distributed enterprise software components. The specification is designed to provide programmers with enhanced support, such as cross-platform portability, easier development and deployment and improved performance.

The J2EE platform also features enhanced XML, messaging and integration support, which allows developers to build portable, database-independent applications. The new J2EE SDK can be downloaded from
