New venue for experienced badminton coaches.

Byline: By LINZI NICHOLSON Sports Reporter

BURGEONING badminton players have the chance to gain more skills at a new club in the Colne Valley.

The Pennine Junior Badminton Club, for young players aged eight to 16 years, is run by experienced coaches Graham and Linda Howe with the help of the Pennine Sports Partnership.

Graham said: "We have moved from our previous venue at Newsome Sports College to Milnsbridge and our aim is to encourage junior players to pick up a racket and give it a go."

The experienced coaches have been supported by the Pennine Partnership and have carried out 10-week badminton lessons in local schools and the after-school club is designed to enable juniors to continue to play the sport and develop their techniques.

The new club, which runs in addition to the continuing classes at Newsome, takes place at the United Churches Sports Hall (former YMCA building) in New Street, Milnsbridge, from 5.00 to 6.30 every Tuesday.
