New store is a big noise in the city.

A SUPERSTORE promising thousands of designer goods at discounted prices has opened with a fanfare in Coventry.

The world's loudest town crier Alan Myatt was on hand to open the doors to the fashion retailer TK Maxx yesterday.

The store is the 66th in the UK, but the outlet at the Gallagher Retail Park, in Stoney Stanton Road, is the first in Coventry and has provided about 50 jobs.

TK Maxx is known for selling designer and High Street clothes and home items at up to 60 per cent off normal prices.

Store spokesman Julie Davidson said: "We were looking for a suitable location to launch in Coventry. I am confident shoppers in the city will enjoy the whole shopping experience at TK Maxx."
