New solar park.

NEW SOLAR PARK. A new 50 MW solar park in Guatemala has been confirmed, reports sigloxxi.com (Feb. 15, 2013). It will be developed by the Spanish group Ortiz, one of the winners of the latest tender for power, with an initial investment of $27 million. President Otto Perez Molina met in Spain with executives of Grupo Ortiz. The planned solar farm will be the largest one in the region, and will contribute to reaching the goal of Guatemala becoming a pole for energy in Central America. Minister of Energy & Mines, Erick Archila said it might be in operation in Zacapa from August 2014.
