Orange UK has revealed that it has now launched the SPV C550 and SPV M500 smart mobile phones, the new versions of its Windows Mobile-based SPV phone.
The SPV C550 comes with Orange's Music Player application, which links through to the network's 300,000-track music download store, part of its Orange World WAP portal, said The Register. The songs are encoded in the AAC Plus format and the new device can also play MP3 and WAV tracks and MPEG 4 video.
The C550 is supplied with a 128MB SD card on top of its 64MB internal memory, suitable for up to 170 Music Player tracks, reported PCPro. The phone itself is a tri-band device and comes with a 1.3 megapixel digicam with a 4x digital zoom and contains 32MB of RAM. In addition, it offers Bluetooth wireless connectivity.
According to The Register, the new M500 is equipped with the same camera as the C550 and is also a tri-band phone, but comes with 64MB of RAM as standard with a 2.8in, 240 x 320, 64,000-colour display. The device runs Windows Mobile 2003 on a 416MHz Intel XScale PXA270 processor and also incorporates Bluetooth technology.
The C550 is free of charge on a monthly subscription tariff with Orange and is thought to be available later this month. No pricing information or release dates were available for the M500.
