CALLING all Cutting It fans... the team behind the smashhit hairdressing series is reuniting 15 years after the original for another salon-based drama.

This time around, writer Debbie Horsfield has swapped blow-dries for Botox, by setting the show in a failing beauty salon.

Run by a dysfunctional family in Manchester, it looks set to have all the fighting and fallouts - not to mention beddings and break-ups - that made Cutting It a sensation over four series from 2002 to 2005.

The action between the rival hairdressing businesses in the BBC1 show launched the acting careers of Sarah Parish, Jason Merrells and Amanda Holden and also starred Angela Griffin.

Now Debbie - who has since pulled off the hugely successful adaptation of Poldark for BBC1 - is hoping to do it all over again with new series, called Age Before Beauty.

The series, yet to be cast, will explore the current fascination with staying young, instant gratification and long-term relation-ageing ships. Family feuds and bitter rivalries will escalate as we follow the lives and loves of the workers in the salon while they deliver plenty of fillers and facelifts. Debbie tells us: "I'm thrilled to be working with long-term colleagues Laura Mackie and Sally Haynes again.

"This will be our first collaboration since Cutting It and we're looking forward to turning the spotlight on the subject of ageing, of growing older gracefully - or disgracefully." BBC boss Charlotte Moore said the show would be "Cutting It for a new generation".

In the plot, Bel has been married to Wesley for 25 years, spending the past 18 as a homemaker and mum to their twins. Now they have gone to university, she has a void in her life.

Enter brother-in-law Teddy, begging her to step in and rescue the family business, a down at heel beauty salon that employs her high-maintenance family: mother Ivy-Rae (body building coach and spray tan technician), and sisters Leanne, Tina and Heidi, who is mother to seven-year-old wannabe pageant queen Disney.

Into the mix comes beautiful twenty-something personal trainer Lorelei, who seems to have caught Wes' eye so can Bel reconcile the demands of her business, warring family and problems in her marriage? Probably not but it'll certainly be fun watching her try...

We look forward to turning the spotlight on ageing
