Medicare Cards

Playing cards offered by the Medicare Rights Center contain easy-to-read information on Medicare options, benefits, rights, and preventative services. Community Voices

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation initiative, Community Voices: Health Care for the Underserved, has been working to improve access to health care in 13 communities in the United States. Now, a new book, More Than a Market: Making Sense of Health Care Systems, outlines efforts made during the course of the project. To order a free copy, call 800/819-0007 and request item 470. Medications for the Indigent

A new patient assistance program that provides certain medications free of charge to qualified individuals and families has been established by the Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation. Free and Low-Cost Prescriptions

The Prescription Assistance Coalition has published a new booklet, How to Get Free Prescription Drugs When You Can't Afford to Pay, and a related report, How to Get a Free Prescription Discount Card to Save Money on Prescription Drugs. Mental Health and the Elderly

Depression and anxiety, as well as alcohol and medication abuse, are often overlooked among the elderly. A new guide from SAMHSA and the National Council on the Aging, Promoting Older Adult Health, profiles 15 exemplary community programs that provide needed support for older clients.
