New report details: Best Practices in Immigrant Lending.

Interested in lending to the immigrant community? The ABA has released a new report entitled, "Best Practices in Immigrant Lending." The report examines the practices of 12 banks from across the country that have successfully provided solid, profitable banking services to immigrant communities. The banks are of all asset sizes.

Researchers at ShoreBank Advisory Services, which compiled the report for ABA, discovered that a bankwide immigrant-focused strategy was at the core of each bank's program. Among the best practices:

* Hiring a diverse staff.

* Keeping close ties to the community.

* Creating flexible underwriting standards.

"Best Practices in Immigrant Lending" is available on the ABA website at Predatory_Issue.htm (under legislative information).
