New publications from Human Kinetics.
Human Kinetics (Champaign, IL), a provider of books, journals and related media information and educational products in the physical activity and health fields, has begun the publication of two new journals, including the "International Journal of Sport Communication" and the "Journal of Intercollegiate Sport."
The "International Journal of Sport Communication" is a new quarterly designed to be a forum for the dissemination of research and information on all aspects and activities associated with sport communication and covers "any topic related to communication ins sport, through sport, or in a sport setting," the company said.
Editorial carries stories, articles and commentaries on topics such as: analyses of commentary; perceptions of women's sports in the media; relationship marketing in promoting sport participation; public relations evaluation in sport; enhancing advertising communication; professionalism in Olympics coverage; and, privacy and the media, as well as a range of legal case studies.
The "Journal of Intercollegiate Sport" carries research specifically addressing sport in college and university settings. The new journal publishes articles from the sciences, social sciences, humanities, and professional fields, and includes information for the understanding of intercollegiate athletics and ideas on how to improve or change current policies and practices. Initial articles cover: sharing research data collected by the NCAA; research on NCAA Division III academic performance; athletic burn-out; sport injury and college athletic health across a lifespan; ACL injury prevention; and, the legal and ethical considerations of rules prohibiting athletic participation.
Overall, Human Kinetics publishes over 20 journals and hundreds of books and databases in the areas of sport and exercise science, sports medicine and rehabilitation, sport management and marketing, fitness, coaching, strength and conditioning, physical education, recreation and dance.
