New product: absorbent boom.

A highly absorbent non-shedding boom designed for cleaning up industrial and environmental oil spills has been introduced by Sorbent Products, Somerset, NJ. The "Lint-Free" boom is designed to reduce clean up t me on both land and water. Absorbing up to 25 times its weight in oil without leaving a residue from shedding material, the boom uses particulate encased in a permeable polypropylene sleeve with a durable nylon netting as the outer cover. The sleeve allows oil to pass through the material while preventing the particulate from shedding during the clean up. The boom will also float indefinitely even after oil saturation.
