New pacemaker for city hospital.

THE Royal Liverpool Hospital has become one the first in the world to fit a new type of an pacemaker.

The new design means patients can undergo MRI scans when the pacemaker is fitted and the need for it was picked up in a new clinic at the hospital. About 250,000 people in the UK have a pacemaker fitted and it is estimated that up to 60 million people around the world may need an MRI scan during their lifetime.

MRI is the best scan available for most conditions.
