New hero on Medallion team.

Medallion Financial Corporation announced that Henry "Hank" Aaron would join its Board of Directors.

Andrew Murstein, President of Medallion stated, "It is both a great pleasure and privilege that Hank Aaron is joining our Board.

"We know he will make significant contributions, not only through his respected standing in the minority business community where we are one of the largest SBA lenders to women and minority owned companies, and through his huge success in owning and operating business franchises, but also by virtue of his world renowned reputation for class, humility, and success. Hank Aaron is a true American hero, and we are honored to have him on our team."

Murstein continued, "We are proud that we are further increasing our non-interested board representation. Two thirds of our Board will be non-interested, and seven out of nine are non-management. Along with Governor Mario Cuomo, Senator Lowell Weicker, and the many other distinguished board members, we sincerely feel our Board's independence, diverse background and expertise is unsurpassed among public companies." Mr. Aaron is currently Senior Vice President of Atlanta National League Baseball Club, Inc. He also serves as Vice President of Business Development for the CNN Airport Network, and is currently President of Hank Aaron BMW.

Mr. Aaron became the first player to compile both 3,000 career hits and more than 500 homers.

He is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.

Mr. Aaron is a longtime Church's and Popeye's restaurant franchisee and also operates a Krispy Kreme franchise in the Atlanta area. He sits on the board of Retail Ventures, Atlanta Technical Institute, the Atlanta Falcons, and Atlanta Braves. He is a member of the Board of Governors for Boys and Girls Clubs of America. With his wife Billye, he is the founder of the Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation.
