New Facility in Canada To Increase Capacity Of Dynacast, Inc.

A plant that will increase capacity 50% over the next three to five years has been opened in Pointe-Claire, Quebec, by Dynacast, Inc., a producer of metal diecast and plastic molded components.

The 64,000-sq-ft facility replaces a 26,000-sq-ft plant in Lachine, Quebec, which had been operating for the past 23 years as Dynacast's firt Canadian facility. The company also operates a plant in Brockville, Ontario, specializing in magnesium diecasting.

The Lachine plant was replaced because it had become overtaxed in recent years as demand for miniature and conventional zinc diecastings and injection molded plastics rose substantially, according to Don Tanner, the unit's general manager.

In addition to incorporating more Dynacast proprietary production equipment and conventional machines, the Pointe-Claire plant provides a more efficient layout than at Lachine.

The plant employs two heat recovery systems to reduce costs and conserve energy. It also has sound enclosures to reduce noise.

The new facility is one of seven Dynacast plants in North America and 26 worldwide. Dynacast's North American base is in Yorktown Heights, New York.
