New e-book standard adopted by Hachette.
Publisher Hachette Book Group USA has announced that it is to launch its entire e-book content in the new file format standard for e-books from the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF).
According to Publishers Weekly, the Open Publication Structure 2.0 and its ".epub file format standard was adopted by the IDPF in September, and is expected to cut costs and increase the number of e-books by enabling publishers to create just one digital book file.
The company is reportedly the first in the industry to adopt the new .epub standard.
