New dean at the school.

A NORTH East university has appointed a new leader for its business school.

Professor Rob Dixon, a leading academic in finance and accounting, will take the helm as Dean at Durham University Business School this month.

Prof Chris Higgins, the Vice-Chancellor, said the appointment signaled a great opportunity for the school to excel in its next phase of development.

"We are enthusiastic that Prof Dixon is the very best person for the role. He has a clear under-standing of the school's strengths and a shared vision for its future," he said.

Prof Dixon, from Newcastle, added: "This role presents a challenging opportunity to take the business school to the next stage of development, which will include ensuring every student has the best possible academic and learning experience."

The school is ninth in the UK and 23rd in Europe in the Financial Times European Business Schools rankings.
