New concentrates give special looks to bottles. (Keeping Up with Additives).

A new line of special-effects color concentrates for cosmetics, beverage, and household-chemical bottles has been introduced by PolyOne Corp.'s packaging business unit in Avon Lake, Ohio. The Blue Planet line consists of 31 vibrant pearlescent and clear shades for PET, PP, and HDPE bottles.

PolyOne also came out with FX Frost concentrates that give a frosted or matte finish to PET bottles when used in conjunction with mold etching by Akron Metal Etching in Akron, Ohio. This approach is said to be less expensive than uv-cured polyurethane spray coatings for achieving n look similar to frosted glass. The bottles can incorporate splash patterns or frosted windows, a popular choice for liquors, beverages, and foods. Tel: (866) 765-9663,
